Memorandum
Due to the ongoing dry conditions fires start easily from all causes, spread rapidly and increase greatly in intensity. Spot fires are a constant danger. Fires burning in light fuels may quickly develop into high intensity characteristics such as long distance spotting and fire whirlwinds. This not only places all residents and visitors in San Miguel County in danger it also can destroy life, homes, our forest, wildlife habitat and our watersheds.
