Rural Volunteer Fire Department

Cabo Lucero volunteer firefighters are frequently called upon to fight wildland fires.

They are also trained to fight structure fires when they occur.

Volunteers erected an observation tower.  This has been valuable in spotting the source of reported smoke in forest areas.  It has also proven useful for training purposes.

Community residents are urged to clear defensible space around their homes.
